Camp Birgin(Name Pending discussion) is a camp that best embodies the burning man principles of Radical Self-Reliance and Participation.
Burning man is about participation, however Virgins rarely get to organize communal art projects, don't tend to be involved in camps, and they don't tend to control much of their first Burning Man experience. Instead most virgin burners are handed an experience. I want us, oh community of new burners, to build our own burning man experience. We can do anything we want, and I'm interested in what will result. Lets find out.
------------------------------------
RULES OF THE CAMP : These rules are guidelines that can be modified later as needed by those in the camp
1.) Leadership: There is no leader of the camp. I am an organizer, and I will be a mediator to ensure that things go smoothly, but I am not in charge, and I will not be telling people what they can and can't do outside of these rules, the rules of burning man, and the things communally decided in the months leading up to the burn.
2.) Requirements:
a.) Every member of the camp needs to affirm that they are a first time burning man attendee.
b.) Every member of the camp must bring everything they need to survive the week, the assumption that someone else will bring an item or supply is not an appropriate attitude, and is how people get sick/injured/killed.
c.) Every member of the camp must bring something to share with the camp to improve the camp experience. This could be a guitar for music, spare food to share, art for the camp, an extra shade tent, a generator, a shower stall, or anything else that you believe people in the camp might enjoy.
d.) Every member and person camping with members must agree to the Leave No Trace policy that gets decided on by the camp.
3.) Severability: This camp may, at any time, in any way, for any reason, break into smaller camps. Ideas may be borrowed, copied, and outright stolen with no hard feelings from either side of the split.
4.) Termination: This camp will CEASE to exist after burning man 2014. Members are encouraged to start a new camp/camps at that time. Thank you for having been part of Camp Birgin.
