Kitchens are the main source of water waste in a camp, and it's something many camps decide isn't worth it in the end. Between clean up responsibilities that often fall on one person when they're not done, and the hassle of communal vs private tools and equipment, I'm not sure that it'll be worth it in the end.
Now, What I DO believe would be worth it, is finding a nice firepit/half steel drum, in order to start a fire in safely, and then use THAT as our only cooking option. Tons of things can be cooked over an open fire. And if someone wants to bring a pan, they can.
Someone would need to volunteer to bring enough wood, and that's a real hassle, and someone would need to volunteer to bring the fire pit, also a large hassle.

My plan before the camp was getting organized, and what I might do regardless, is canned goods, like chef boyardee, left out in the sun open when hot, and eat. simple, little mess, and much more eco friendly. That and there's no worry about needing to freeze anything. If I decide a cooler is worth it, I'll bring one, and then add hotdogs and bacon to the mix, both which can be cooked in a solar pringles can cooker.(look it up)

I am in agreement with Divreon for a camp kitchen...I don't think being birgins we are ready for that task...Its a lot of work and I wouldn't want that to fall on one person or potentially a couple of people.....I am bringing one burner propane gas stove I planned on taking care of myself for food...anyone is more than welcome to use it if need be...If someone wants to take on that task I am fine with it and would be happy to participate in cleaning or cooking but really hadn't planned on doing the kitchen myself. What is everyone's thoughts about dinners (even if we are eating our own dinners) should we still eat together? Or do you think it will be hard to manage where everyone will be...from what I've read on other boards some veterans have dinners together....

It'd be nice if we have a time each day, even if not everyone is there, to have a meal together before everyone departs for the evening to "Whatever" It'll be a time to share stories of the wonders that we've seen, and the things we'd never thought we'd do.
