I have WAY too many ideas for Burning Man, so I'm hoping to limit my "Art Budget" to around $200-$300. I would contribute that to a worthy project, for example the dome if we get that working. I'd really like to work with solar powered LEDs if possible, perhaps lighting or decorating someone else's project. I recently purchased some solar powered net lights, and I was really impressed at the quality and brightness. A little digging, and I found these www.dhgate.com/product/wholesale-retail-christmas-led-string-light/172285436.html#s1-3-1|3290097434Solar power net lights, I ordered a pack of a hundred yesterday for $30, hopefully I'll get an idea of how many working lights I can expect per package. I was thinking of getting 800. Anyone who has an idea of what to do with a 1200 meter by 1600 meter blanket of leds that do not require electricity (or really maintenance of any kind), let me know. My best idea so far is a tunnel or path of white leds and hand out prismatic glasses to everyone that walks through.

If we do end up getting/building a dome, having a "Light net" over it would be pretty neat. We'd need to tie it down pretty tight, and keep the battery holders in reach somehow, but it could be interesting.

It looks like about 90 out of a hundred work, so I'd check them preplaya and only bring the wokring ones.

Nice. I'm looking into similar setups so we can be well lit.

Theus, in the description of those lights it say powered by "dry cell" meaning battery. They may have put solar in the title because they are appropriate for solar being very efficient.
Let us know when you receive them if they include solar cells. -Joel
And btw, my electronic skills could help rig up stuff like this if we don't already have others with that skill set.
